How It Works

Solar hot water systems utilize radiation from the sun to heat a food-grade glycol fluid inside collectors mounted on a roof. This heated fluid circulates via an intelligent pump and exchanges heat into a holding tank as shown in the illustration. The holding tank feeds solar-heated water into your domestic hot water system. This system might be another tank, a boiler, or a more custom system. Then, this fluid is then sent through pipes to heat your hot water. For these purposes, Alteris Renewables typically uses flat plate collectors which have an average life expectancy of 25 years.
